“At its very core, marketing is storytelling. The best advertising campaigns take us on an emotional journey–appealing to our wants, needs and desires–while at the same time telling us about a product or service.” – Melinda Partin

Why Tell Your Story
In today’s highly digitized world, consumers face advertising overload. With so much information, it becomes easy for a business to get lost in the noise. Although your company provides a product or service, ultimately, you are dealing with people. The truth is, people do not connect with your WHAT, so how do you break through all the noise and make sure your brand stands out? Storytelling!
Stories are the essential building block of human connection. Since the beginning of humankind, storytelling has connected us. A well-crafted story instantly grabs attention, elicits emotion, and engages people. The reality is that the decision to buy is more emotional than logical. Telling a story engages the imagination and heart of the customer and helps to distinguish you from your competitors. Your personal story, the tale that defines your cause, purpose and ultimately why your business exists, will most often catch the attention of the people you desire to serve. Why? People must buy why you do what you do before they are ever interested in what you do.
We All Have A Story To Tell
In truth, people buy from the person with whom they share an emotional connection. The person they believe understands their pain, disappointments, and challenges. They will work with you if they are inspired and believe that your life experiences have given you the grit, hunger and knowledge needed to help them fulfill their hopes, dreams and desires.
We all have a story that has made us who we are—experiences that have shaped who we want to be and the impact we want to have in the world. The key to storytelling is to position your message and to tell the right story at the right time. It is important to be vulnerable and authentic while telling your story to give your audience insight into the challenges and disappointments you have faced and the lessons and personal growth needed to achieve your success.
Storytelling conveys a more intimate understanding of the journey and passion that inspired you to develop your product or service. Being transparent about the moments in your life that filled you with self-doubt, uncertainty, too many choices or not enough choices, you will connect with those experiencing similar struggles and challenges. It is your story that will cut through all the information overload and clutter. The right story will convey a message and influence your divine client. When you tell a story that gives the audience a glimpse into your private or uncomfortable moments, you say, I relate to you. I am like you.
