We all have a life story and a message that can inspire others to live a better life or run a better business. Why not use that story and message to serve others and grow a real business doing it? – Brendon Burchard.

In this video, I sit down with an International Speaker and co-founder of DoubleDekker Life, Yetta Dekker. Get ready to learn how you can use speaking to position yourself as the expert and grow your business. As unpredictable as the recent change has been, it has levelled the playing field and created an opportunity for every entrepreneur to get their message heard without limitations. Are you ready to position yourself as the expert and crush the virtual stage?

Speaking To Position Yourself As The Expert

We often think public speaking skills are reserved for those special occasions when we have to address a large audience. And for many of us, the idea of public speaking makes us tremble with anxiety. Every time you engage with another individual, you are utilizing your natural public speaking skills. Whether you are presenting your business to a small group or speaking to thousands of people – the goal is to engage and connect, which is what public speaking is all about.

So why is storytelling such a crucial component to effective public speaking? A well-crafted story instantly grabs attention, elicits emotion, and engages people. The reality is that the decision to buy is more emotional than logical. Telling a story captures the imagination and HEART of your customer. A well-told story is what distinguishes you from your competitors. Your brand story, the tale that defines your cause, purpose and ultimately why your business exists, will most often catch the attention of the people you desire to serve. This story is a culmination of life-changing moments, heartache, lessons learned, pivots, motivation, frustrations, and successes along your entrepreneurial journey.

Information Overload!

In this age of information overload, the ability to captivate attention with a good story is an essential skill to develop to be heard in all the noise. People are not only buying what you do- they are buying why you do it. The WHY in your story can be the biggest differentiator between your business and competitors.

The truth is we live in a more purpose-driven world than ever before. Stories cut through the noise, evoke powerful emotions, inspire change, teach us lessons and motivate action. In the words of Alan Weiss, Logic makes you think. Emotions make you act. A good story makes us think, feel and speaks to us in ways that numbers, data and powerpoints cannot. It creates connection because emotions drive us to purchase more than logic.

As entrepreneurs, we need to speak in front of prospects and clients. It is not enough to have a quality product or service; you need to know how to talk about it in a way that differentiates you from the crowd. That is why brand storytelling is so important. Instead of throwing facts and statistics at your audience, wrap your message into a story that transports people, simplifies information, and provokes an emotional response – no other brand can copy YOUR story. Brian Tracy says, “Your ability to communicate with others will account for fully 85% of your success in your business and in your life.”
