Do you plan to fail in your health?

I recently attended a 3 day conference in which I was speaking on stage 2 of the 3 days. This was my 3rd time attending this event as a speaker, so I already knew that the schedule was going to be REALLY tight.

Moving from stage to stage, workshop to workshop and running a coaching clinic at our booth was going to be a challenge, so I did a lot of planning. One of the things I did, was I planned for my nutrition. How many of you have attended an event or gone on vacation and your schedule is so chaotic that you end up skipping meals, not drinking enough water, and your nutritional intake drastically drops?

An event, a conference, a vacation… are not excuses to put down your health.

One of the things that I did was I planned for the craziness. Even as I travelled to the event, I travelled with boxes of shakes, I travelled with boxes of bars, I travelled with different things to keep myself hydrated, things with electrolytes in it, things to give me energy. I was stocked. You see, I already knew going in that the schedule would be so busy that it would be easier to skip a meal then to stop and eat. I know that it would be easier to go all day without drinking water than to carry water with me at all times. I also realized that it would take more than my intention to ensure I maintained my commitment to health… it would take a plan. Along with my best friend Cindy, every day we prepared shakes and we packed bars. Whenever I stepped off stage, came out of a workshop or finished a coaching session, Cindy would hand me a drink of water. She’d hand me a bar or she’d hand me a shake. She was helping me ensure I stayed nourished and energized throughout the day.

Each day started at about 9am and we ensured that we took the time to get up, go workout and get some fresh air. By doing this we were able to keep my energy high and me alive throughout the day.

They say “if you fail to plan you plan to fail”… what they are really talking about the power of a plan. We are all fairly familiar with financial planning, and creating budgets…. But what do we plan daily for our health?

When it comes to your health, do you put any planning into it? Do you plan each day? Do you plan when you go away? How do you ensure that you win and do you have tools and supports that allow you to win?

Anyone who knows me knows that I drink shakes on a regular basis, I always have bars and other healthy nutritious snacks that I can throw in my purse, my glove compartment, or my suitcase. This is what allows me to win. This is what allows me to have the nutrition that I’m committed to, and make it easy. So are you planning your nutrition? Or are you just letting it happen by default?
